Closing the Loop Ecological sanitation for food security Esrey, S., Andersson, I., Hillers, A., Sawyer, R. (2001)

"Closing the Loop - Ecological sanitation for food security" is a final outcome of a workshop of the same name held in Mexico in October 1999. The workshop brought together professionals in the areas of alternative sanitation, public health, nutrition and agriculture from countries in Latin America, Africa, Asia, North America and Europe. The main idea was based on Ecological sanitation which is seen as a “closed loop” approach preventing pollution by recycling nutrients and organic matter.
