Short Bio

As a practised Environmental engineer over the last 30 years, I worked in the conception, planning, construction, implementation and supervision of innumerable water, wastewater and sanitation projects worldwide, but with a main focus in Latin America, where I worked 21 years with local, regional and national governments, but also with social organisations, universities and private partners.

The hands-on experiences during the planning, and implementation of water and wastewater projects in rural and urban areas in Ecuador, Guatemala, Bolivia and Peru I´m concerned of the current and upcoming challenges regards water security, resilience and sustainable sanitation in the region.

During the last years I was involved in the development of National Sector Policies for National Ministries to achieve the universal access to sustainable water and sanitation services, today and in the future, without limitations in rural, marginal and urban areas, considering the social acceptance in an economically viability, with an institutional and technical framework to protect health and natural resources.

In my actually position I´m working as Planning Officer within the GIZ Competence Centre Water, Wastewater and Waste to develop innovative but practicable water, wastewater and waste project approaches regards de always more complex local, regional and global challenges.
