1.  Minutes of SuSanA core group meeting held on 25 May 2010

On 25 May 2010 the SuSanA core group participated in a skype meeting to discuss various issues like the planning of the 12th SuSanA meeting in Stockholm, working group activities, participation in events and the roadmap for the coming years. The meeting outcomes are summarised in the attached minutes.

2.  Feedback on Multi-stakeholder Meeting of UN-Water on 10-11 June in Geneva

A meeting of the UN-Water Taskforce on Wastewater Management, coupled with a multi-stakeholder dialogue on wastewater management, took place at the World Health Organization, Geneva, 9-11 June 2010. This multi-stakeholder platform is viewed as being mostly active on the policy level. Katharina Conradin from seecon attended as a representative of SuSanA and gave a presentation on SuSanA.  She proposes that SuSanA could play an important role in stressing the link between sanitation and sustainable waste water management as well as providing implementation expertise.  More information is available in the attached feedback notes.

3. 12th SuSanA meeting will be in Stockholm on 3–4 September 2010

The 12th SuSanA meeting will be held in Stockholm on 3-4 September 2010 prior to the World Water Week. Working groups will meet on the evening of 3 September as well as in the morning of 4 September, while the plenary will take place from 4 Sept. afternoon onwards. There will also be a high-level SuSanA panel discussion on the Roadmap of SuSanA with participants from the World Water Week on 9 September at Rica Talk Hotel close to the venue. Key messages will be prepared prior to the panel discussion. More information will be available on the SuSanA website soon.

4.  New video clip about SuSanA released

The SuSanA secretariat (currently at GTZ) has produced the first video clip in a series of video clips explaining the work of SuSanA. This clip asked the question, what does SuSanA mean to you and your organisation? It contains short statements of Madeleine Fogde (SEI/EcosanRes, Sweden), Paula Paulo (University UMFS, Brazil) and Ron Sawyer (SARAR, Mexico), see http://tinyurl.com/3y53y7x . The SuSanA secretariat is welcoming feedback and ideas for future video clips (either by e-mail or by leaving a comment on the SuSanA facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sustainable-Sanitation-Alliance-SuSanA/319887603833  (currently we have 447 fans on facebook, which is not so much yet compared to e.g. the 77,000 fans of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation…)

We always appreciate input from our members and partners to the SuSanA website and the other media used by SuSanA, as well as your recommendations about improvements and desired services. Please contact the SuSanA secretariat at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. By the way, the SuSanA website www.susana.org is currently accessed over 3200 times per month, counting single users per day.

Best wishes,
Christian Rieck and Elisabeth von Muench
on behalf of the SuSanA secretariat
