The industrial designer Annamaja Segtnan, the industrial design student Mona Mijthab and the researcher Ashley Wheaton, were contracted by GIZ Good Urban Governance Project to do research for a local adapted, low tech and inexpensive toilet pot.
The objectives of this project were:
I: Through industrial design and cooperation within sanitation community present toilet pot solutions that are culturally acceptable to the community.
II: Develop ideas for an integrated urban toilet pot that is easy to use, maintain, and viable in practical and economic terms. The toilet and/or the collection system should preferably destroy pathogens in faeces before they are returned to nature in an environmentally sustainable way (observing a previous attempt with biodegradable bags).
