Ce rapport examine les résultats de la diffusion de biodigesteurs pour l’Assainissement en Haïti de 2010 à 2013. Parce que l'objectif principal de la période de diffusion était l’assainissement sous la forme de l’approvisionnement des toilettes et du traitement des eaux usées, le terme DEWATS (Decentralised Wastewater Treatment Systems / Systèmes Décentralisés de Traitement des Eaux Usées) est utilisé pour décrire les biodigesteurs. Les objectifs secondaires que les biodigesteurs devaient adresser étaient l’énergie renouvelable (sous la forme de «biogaz»); et le digestat riche en nutriments (sous la forme d'effluents des biodigesteurs, référés, en Haïti sous le nom de «biol»).!
Le rapport démontre que sur la période de 4 ans, la plupart des biodigesteurs n’ont pas réalisé tous leurs objectifs de l'assainissement, le biogaz et l’effluent (biol), bien que la majorité des toilettes raccordées aux biodigesteurs ait été évaluée comme «fonctionnelle». Il y avait des exemples isolés de réussite dans tous les trois objectifs, par exemple dans les marchés et dans les zones urbaines densément peuplées où les utilisateurs ont payés pour utiliser les toilettes et les agences d'exploitation ont agi avec diligence dans l'exécution de leurs tâches de gestion.
