Urban Sanitation Challenges: Case Studies from Africa and Asia 19.06.2024 • 14:00 - 15:30 (BST)
Online

This webinar cuts across different IWA’s initiatives, programmes and communities. It is jointly organised by IWA’s Inclusive Urban Sanitation Initiative in collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat).

UN-Habitat’s vision is “a better quality of life for all in an urbanizing world”. UN-Habitat is implementing the “Scaling Citywide Inclusive Sanitation Systems (CWIS)” Project which aims to ensure everyone benefits from safely managed sanitation.

The Global Report on Sanitation and Wastewater Management in Cities and Human Settlements is one of the main deliverables of the project. It provides a global reference on wastewater and faecal sludge management in urban settings.

During the webinar, UN-Habitat will present 4 case studies from Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Nakuru (Kenya), and Hanoi (Vietnam) from the report, to illustrate specific challenges and emerging best-fit approaches related to sanitation and wastewater management, providing evidence and underlying rationale for the public policy response proposed.
