Purpose

The world’s leading Accelerator dedicated to scaling sanitation SMEs via business model design, corporate mentorship and access to investment.

Activities

The Toilet Board Coalition built the world’s leading Accelerator dedicated to scaling sanitation SMEs via business model design, corporate mentorship and access to investment. The Accelerator not only strengthens and scales sanitation businesses, but it also facilitates partnerships within its Members – between SMEs, corporates, NGOs, investors and governments that share a commitment to enable universal access to sanitation.

To date, the Coalition has graduated 70 SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) from over 20 countries, impacting more than 3 million people daily and unlocking US$33 million in finance.

In 2023, the Accelerator expanded into Latin America an is co-financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and IDB Lab through the Source of Innovation alliance and delivered in Spanish in collaboration with Water For People. This year, the Toilet Board Coalition, with the support of Aqua For All, is offering the programme in West Africa for French-speaking entrepreneurs.

The Toilet Board Coalition accelerates business solutions to the sanitation crisis via the sector’s leading Accelerator, matching entrepreneurs with global business leaders and investors to drive progress on Sustainable Development Goal 6.2 – sanitation for all by 2030. In its ninth year, the Accelerator is a 12-month virtual programme offered in English, Spanish and French that facilitates the growth of Sanitation Economy businesses through business model coaching, corporate mentorship and access to investment. To date, the Coalition has graduated 70 SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises), impacting more than 3 million people daily and unlocking US$33 million in finance.
