Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Fecal Sludge Management (FSM) Toolbox is an open knowledge platform to enable FSM decisions across the value chain. Its analytical and situational assessment tools are designed to support city managers, private sector and donor agencies. The assignment was to refine the toolbox by studying 4 geographies and to develop end-user strategies. This was done through enhancing existing functionalities to reflect current knowledge base in global FSM research, streamlining input data footprint required for using the tools to reflect data availability across these geographies, and improving the flow of data to enable a seamless end-user experience.
