This report draws attention to the neglected issue of anthropogenic chemical pollution in low- and middle-income countries.
The daily use of chemicals is omnipresent and only a few industrial sectors do not use chemical products. Consideration of chemical pollution issues are mainstream in the developed world where policy and practice engage in finding and implementing appropriate solutions. However, limited information and scientific evidence has yet been compiled on the use, fate, and impact of anthropogenic chemical pollutants, such as pesticides, pharmaceuticals,
heavy metals from the mining sector, e-waste pollutants, and other industrial chemical substances, in the specific context of low- and middle-income countries.
