WASHaLOT 3.0 Installation, Operation & Maintenance User’s Guide Madrid, F., Monse, B., Schlenk, J.C. (2021)

As COVID response, the programme Water Supply and Sanitation for Refugee Settlements and Host Communities in Northern Uganda (WatSSUP) is supporting measures for improved hand hygiene in institutions. In cooperation with local actors the programme is implementing WASHaLOTs in Health Care Facilities, COVID-19 quarantine stations and schools in Northern Uganda.

The WASHaLOT has been first developed by the GIZ Fit for School Programme in cooperation with the GIZ Sustainable Sanitation Programme. The WASHaLOT 3.0 is the third iteration of WASHaLOT handwashing facilities that has been tested and used in various countries and settings since 2013. It was first introduced in Uganda in 2018 by Sanitation for Millions, a globally acting multi-donor programme implemented by GIZ.

The WASHaLOT 3.0 User Guide is produced to provide institutions with orientation on the WASHaLOT installation, guidance on operation & maintenance as well as recommendations for pandemic adjustments.

The WASHaLOT 3.0 Cleaning & Maintenance- Poster is produced to provide maintenance staff with guidance on how to clean and maintain the WASHaLOT 3.0

The WASHaLOT Stickers can be put on the WASHaLOT as visual cues indicating usage instructions or physical distance.
