SFD (Lite) Report - Satkania Municipality CWIS-FSM Support Cell, DPHE (2023)
Satkania Municipality is located within the Satkania Sub-District (Upazila) situated in the Chattogram District (Zila) under Chattogram Division. The geographical coordinates of Satkania are 22° 05' 15.00"N and 92° 05' 4.92"E. It is bordered on the north by Chandanaish Upazila, on the south by Lohagara Upazila (Chattogram), on the east by Bandarban Sadar Upazila, and on the west by Banshkhali and Anowara Upazilas.
According to the population census in 2011 by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the Satkania city population was 45,001 the urban population growth in Satkania is 0.86% per year. Considering 10% floating population, such as farmers and traders coming to the city every day, the present (2023) population is estimated to be around 54,858 (Table 1). The household survey results show that majority of the occupation is business (31%), followed by private service (34%) and labourer (19%). The outcome of the SFD graphic shows that only twelve percent (12%) of the excreta flow is classified as safely managed, and the remaining eighty eight percent (88%) is classified as unsafely managed.
