SFD (Level 2) Report - Ratnanagar Municipality, Bagmati Province Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) (2024)
Ratnanagar Municipality is situated in Chitwan District within Bagmati Province in the central region of Nepal. It is divided into 15 wards and covers an area of 3,117.54 sq. km. It was established on December 2, 2014 and was reformed on March 10, 2017. It lies on 27°38ʹ10ʺ to 27°43ʹ38ʺ N latitude and 85°06ʹ12ʺ to 85°16ʹ30ʺ E longitude and the altitude ranges from 898 metres above sea level (masl) to 2525 masl (Ratnanagar Municipality, 2024).
The municipality has a population of 89,905 residing in 22,403 households (National Statistics Office, 2023). The annual population growth rate of the municipality is 3.77%.
The SFD graphic shows that excreta generated from 62% of the population are safely managed, while 38% of the population are unsafely managed. Only 2% of FS generated in the municipality was treated, which is delivered to FSTP and biogas digester at household. While safely managed FS generated from 50% of population is, temporary as, the FS that has not been emptied. The proportion of safely managed FS will soon become unsafely managed once the containments start filling up.
