Toilet for the urban poor in Bangladesh (moSan - mobile sanitation) Non-infrastructure based dry-separation toilet for the urban poor in Bangladesh Mijthab, M. (2011)

GIZ Bangladesh and the German industrial designer Mona Mijthab developed a non-infractructure-based separation dry toilet for the urban poor in Bangladesh. The toilet is part of a sustainable sanitation system with collectors, transport, human waste treatment and reuse as compost fertiliser or biogas. No water or chemicals are required. A tight lid and dry covering material avoids smell. Every day the full inner buckets are emptied. The lightweight toilet can be carried and used at a convenient place, e.g. inside the private dwelling and is also suitable in cases of emergency, like flooded areas. The toilet will be used by one family or household. This presentation (in English) is based on the Bachelor Thesis by the same author, which is found here (in German): http://www.susana.org/lang-en/library?view=ccbktypeitem&type=2&id=1237 The presentation was 9 MB large and has therefore been split in 2 parts for easier download (see download 1 and 2 below). A summarised version is also supplied (see third download below). More photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gtzecosan/sets/72157628080665713/
