Guidelines for sanitation facilities for people with disabilities DWAF (2008)
This guideline sets out the necessary requirements for the construction of latrines for people with disabilities. It includes a section on the institutional responsibilities for the planning, design, construction and funding of these latrines, and the maintenance requirements for the ongoing care of the latrines. However the primary purpose of the guideline is to provide technical advice and guidance for the design of
latrines for people with disabilities, the modification of existing latrines to cater for people with disabilities, and some thoughts on the design of standard latrines to cater for the needs of the temporarily disabled or incapacitated.
