BORDA Symposium - Integrated Management of Used Water and Sanitation 10 and 11 November 2015 in Bremen, Germany BORDA (2015)

The symposium responded to needs of action as identified during 2015’s World Water Forum 7 in South-Korea and 2015’s World Water Week in Stockholm. By linking actual experiences from implementation with innovative concepts of urban development, the symposium aimed

▶▶ to generate an input to the realization of respective SDGs and to the HABITAT III process (Quito/Ecuador, October 2016) on livable and inclusive cities,
▶▶ to identify key elements and practicalities for the establishment of used-water management schemes as integral part of a holistic approach of infrastructure development, and
▶▶ to support the further strengthening of the international community of practice.

The symposium addressed the following topics: ▶▶ Policy challenges – how to translate water and especially sanitation related Sustainable Development Goals to implementation on local level ▶▶ Strategies to integrate the water cycle into urban development processes ▶▶ Roadmaps for progressive implementation« – creating favorable framework conditions and adequate administrative procedures for a push of infrastructure development on municipal level ▶▶ Good governance as a key for an effective and comprehensive management of water resources ▶▶ Challenges to translate innovative pilot activities of sanitation related community development into the mainstream of infrastructure development ▶▶ Innovative instruments as impact investment – reliable options for financing sanitation services on community Level Shared responsibilities between business, public sector and communities – experiences with water stewardship initiatives Find the presentations on the links below.
