Sustainable utilisation of human urine in urban areas Practical experiences Adamsson, M., Ban, Z., Dave, G. (2003)

After several years of research on utilisation of nutrients in human urine an opportunity to build and use a greenhouse aquaculture demonstration plant appeared in the new science centre Universeum, in Göteborg, Sweden. The challenge for this project is to recycle all the nutrients in urine collected from the staff and the public visiting (over 600 000 visitors after first year) and to demonstrate its value as nutrient with different eco-sanitation technologies on site. This paper will present a brief description of the site, the ongoing projects, and some practical experiences.
