The Akasuga technology is a low-cost agroecological latrine which has been developed and implemented by the GIZ Water and Sanitation Programme in Burundi (ProSecEau) in cooperation with the respective directions of the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Hydraulics responsible of Sanitation.
ProSecEau has also developed in December 2021 an e-training (in English and French) on the Atingi.org platform. The e-training is a “training of trainers” tool to reach the local masons specialized in the construction of Akasuga latrines. This training is entirely self-taught and covers in detail all the stages of construction, use and maintenance of the latrine. Note that to access those training, one needs to create an account, which is free of charge and give access to numerous e-training on various subject. (Links can be found under further readings.)
Further ProSecEau has created 3 tutorial videos on how to build the latrine (with English and French subtitles) which can also be viewed on the GIZ youtube channel. (Links can be found under further readings.)
