Assessment of a cost-covering sanitation tariff for Alexandria/Egypt Badran, M., Jamrah, A., Gaese, H. (2010)

Alexandria faces major inefficiencies regarding financial sustainability of sanitation services. Wastewater tariffs in Alexandria are only covering around 20% of the total cost and 60% of operation and management costs. Aim of the study is to assess the possibility of introducing a cost–covering sanitation tariff. For this purpose the overall influences are examined, starting with a situation analysis of Egypt and Alexandria and ending with a financial analysis of the sanitation utility in Alexandria.
