Available sanitation technologies for rural and peri-urban Africa Morgan, P. (2007)

For most parts of rural and peri-urban Africa the pit latrine remains the most commonly used sanitation technology. This is likely to remain so for a very long time. The pit latrine has indeed several merits but also disadvantages, as highlighted in the following. The presentation allows for a good overview on existing types of pit latrines, but also on other types of sanitation technologies such as the conventional flush toilet, the pour flush toilet, and the urine diversion dehydration toilet (UDDT).
