2016 - 2017 Water and Sanitation Safety Planning in rural Romania and Macedonia Raising awareness about environmental protection and taking action particularly in the area of water quality and sanitation in rural communities

The introduction of a Water and Sanitation Safety Plan (WSSP) approach with an updated compendium encourages the population to promote local action for the improvement of water supply and sanitation systems, with the active participation of students, youth, teachers, locals and the authorities. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety Germany.

2015 - 2017 Reducing chemicals and contamination of drinking water sources in rural communities in Bosnia-Herzegovina, FYR Macedonia and Albania To improve sustainably the environment and living conditions through affordable and sustainable technologies.

2014 - 2016 Introducing sustainable wastewater and nutrient management in rural Georgian communities Reducing pollution of the Black Sea caused by human settlements at the Khobi river flowing into the Black Sea.

Activities under the project focused on prevention of environmental pollution, on education, health and hygiene matters so that physical facilities are properly used and maintained. The project raised awareness and contributed to saving biodiversity in the region and enhance the tourism industry . Lessons learnt from the project had been used for up-scaling and replication in nine other villages in the region.
